About the Majhighariani Institute of Technology and Science College

The collage  is located in Rayagada, Orissa, India. It was started in 1999 by the Basantdevi Charitable Trust. Its name came from the Goddess Majhighariani, deity of Rayagada. The college was approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and the government of Orissa. The college is affiliated to Biju Patnaik University of Technology (BPUT), Rourkela and Berhampur University. It is an ISO 9001:2008 certified institute of eastern India.

Admission details:

Admission to different courses (B.Tech & M.Tech) of the University(BPUT) shall be based on criteria decided by the Academic Council of the University(BPUT). There shall be provision for direct admission for a limited number of NRI/FN students. Details of criteria shall be as per provisions in the rule formulated for the purpose. The University(BPUT) shall adopt the eligibility criteria as specified by AICTE/UGC.

• TRAINING AND PLACEMENT ACTIVITIES

The Training and Placement Cell of the MITS arranges regular vocational training and campus interviews. It also conducts seminars and industrial visits. It arranges summer training both inside and outside the campus. The outside training is arranged at important industrial units. The objective of the cell is to train the students as per the present day needs of the private and public sectors.

• ACCOMODATION

At present there are four hostels in the campus with intake capacity of 250 boys. Besides them there are four hostels with capacity of 150 for boys and four hostels with capacity of 150 for girls. Construction is underway for accommodating 500 more students, near by the Institution.

• LIBRARY

 MITS Library is well equipped with text and reference books by both Indian and foreign authors. The library has sufficient number of volumes as per the University curriculum. There are at present 15000 volumes of text books and library also subscribes to reputed and leading national and international journals pertaining to various branches. Students have the flexibility to select their books from the library independently through the Computer. Apart from that each department have their own library to take care of the special requirements. The sprawling reading room section of the library can accommodate about 150 students at a time. The library also supports the modern aids of teaching such as computer based, Tutorials, DVDS, slides, Micro documents etc.

• Health  Services

The MITS Medicare provides free medical services and a dispensary is attached to it in the campus. It also extends its service to the hostels by routine visits and checkups. The villagers adjacent to the campus also get benefit by the MITS Medicare.

• CO-OPERATIVE STORE

To facilitate the students to purchase stationery and textbooks at concesional rates, the institution owns a Books store with in the campus. In addition, there is a book bank facility, which lends books to the students. Students are very much benefited by the same facility.

As the campus is situated at a distance of 12 Kms away form Rayagada town on the state highway, transport facility is provided to the students as well as employees. The MITS owns six buses for the purpose of transportation at different timings for different batches.

•  CANTEEN 

MITS has created a open house canteen system, centrally located inside the campus for the first time which is an example of its own. Various types of foods including National, Continental, tea, snacks, etc. are available, catering to different taste and preferences at subsidized rates.
